Sept. 11/16

Fishing has been good the past few day for worm fisherman fishing in shallow water as the chironomid hatches slow down pushing the larger fish into shallower water to feed. Trollers with gang troll/flat fish, hot shots have also been catching fish. The “Blue Marroon” leech has been the best producer on the fly. There have been large Chironomids coming off but the fish are not interested in them at this time. With warmer and nice weather arriving today and sun and light winds for the week I expect the chironomid hatches to pick back up and fish to return to feed on them in deeper water.
The Jim Vinnell memorial derby had a great turn out of fishers, the largest to date and everyone had a great time gathering around the evening fire/fishing/socializing and having a huge potluck for todays lunch with prizes and raffle event where everyone get a prize. Big thanks to Carol and Leroy Green for organizing the event (also you Warren:)and all their hard work making it a fun annual gathering of friends and our permanent residents.
