I was out Sunday evening until almost dark and fish were feeding heavily on bomber emergers, brown in color in the surface film , picked off a few fish on chironomid emerger patterns casting to riseforms on the dry, total FUN!! Bring up some emegrers and fish to dark on the dry, or try a chironomid a foot below the indicator is working work.
In the daytime, #12’s olive green and light olives coming off over deep water, watery olive medium olive and dark olive, many patterns working from 14 to 10’s, changing up is key to finding the hot fly and location their feeding. Barnes lake specials, Elvis, coppertops, blood worms(bright red or green/red),watery olive ASB’s,chromies are all working well. Fishing was good to excellent most days this past week.
Trolling has been slow, but some fish are being picked up.
Worms fished under a slip float will fish, just like a chironomid and get you into trout.
See you on the water,
Richard
