Summer has arrived with warm temps and stable weather. Fishing has picked up with the chironomids hatching throughout the deeper basin of the lake. Other patterns are now working instead of just bloodworm patterns although fish are still very keyed in on bloodworm and post bloodworm patterns. Adults seen are watery olive, green, dark green, light brown(tan), brown and burgundy. An array of colors to choose from if fishing an emerging chironomid. Successful fly pattern reports vary in not only color but sizes 16-10 also. The worm under a float seems to have slowed along with trollers reports as the fish are feeding on chironomid patterns mainly with the odd damsel in throat samples. This is the time of year we have the most fun at Tunkwa fishing the deeper water of the lake as the larger fish come out of the weeds into the open water to feed.
