The past week has had some very good days of chironomid fishing the deeper waters of the lake. Thursdays late afternoon strong thunderstorms and heavy rain made no difference with Fridays very good fishing until Fridays late afternoon thunderstorms and rain dropped water temps along with stalling hatches. There were a few spotty hatches of smaller chironomids but fishing slowed Saturday and so far today. Warmer temps along with high pressure should bring back the hatches with reports of some coming off around Bird Sanctuary Island late this morning. Swallows are out, fish are jumping and rolling on the surface taking something subsurface or on the surface. Edited at 1p.m. as guests morning reports had some good hatches and good fishing in the deeper waters off Bird sanctuary Island, I expect fishing to only get better as the week progresses.
