With Tunkwa icing off on Saturday morning guests had more areas to fish. After Friday upper 20 temps, the snow and r4ain on Sunday sure were a shock to all! Some reports of pretty steady action came in from guests with fish up to 20″, but lots of smaller fish being caught, which is typical for ice out. The trout are very shallow, and fishing right up against the bank is key. We recommend you keep moving until you see lots of trout surfacing/moving, and fish them, as they are large schools cruising around. PumpkinHeads, brown leaches and scud patterns were the best flies to use. Worms under a float also got guests into trout.
The lake level is rising slowly, water has great clarity, except where creeks are feeding into the lake, places like the Corral channel are stained from run off.
This week weather forecast is calling for temps into the low 20, no rain( or snow!) and nighttime temps staying above freezing. We should see some good Chironomids hatches start up soon, and fishing will be great. May sees some great fishing, and its a nice quitter time to be out on the water!.
