Another week of unsettled weather…….. Lots of sun, but steady strong winds from the north, have kept the lake rough, and stirred up. Friday saw some beautiful calm, stable weather, and the fishing really picked up. Fish were keying on the many chironomid hatches, suspending about 6′ under the surface. Seemed any patterns in green was working, size didn’t matter.
Trollers were getting into fish as well. Hot shots being good producers, as were dark coloured Kwikfish. The ‘Blue Maroon’ fly pattern, trolled was a decent producer as well.
Worms under a float continue to produce.
Richard just rushed in with quicky report, right from the water the this morning, fishing is very good. Fish are feeding and are ‘on’!!!! Fishing in 13′ of water, close to the bottom, with Bomber sized chironomid patterns are working. Lots of better sized fish caught in the last hour! Throat pumps samples are showing large chironomids, in silver/green ribs. Static bag/green rib and CopperTops have been working this morning.
It sure seems, that when we have stable weather, the fishing really turns on!
Daniel and his son landed this one on Friday.
Mike Stewart and his family where into a few this past weekend, wind drifting ‘Blue maroon’ flies..
