Chironomid fishing has been very good to excellent for most anglers, The ‘bombers'(giant chironomids) started to come off later last Tuesday afternoon. The trout have set up, and are feeding over the ‘deeper’ parts of Tunkwa Lake, 17-19′. Fishing size 10(2 xl) chironomids patterns, 1-2′ off the bottom has been the ticket. A variety of patterns are working, and see, to change from day to day, but ‘mettalic’ green based patterns have been pretty consistent. We had fish to 26″ landed since the last report.
There is a bit of an algae bloom starting, and surface temps are staying cool, due to our cooler nights, dropping to single digits each night.
Worms fished under a slip float in the same manner as the chironomids will get you into fish as well, if your not fly fishing.
Trolling has been a bit spotty, but fish are still being caught.
See you out there!.
