We have 10-15 feet of open water along the shoreline in front of the resort. Over night temps have been above freezing which makes a big difference in speeding up ice off. We have also had rain sometimes mixed with wet snow which helps deteriorate the surface ice. The lake is darkening up, a sign of water saturating the lake ice. Snow around the resort is almost gone, just a few spots left to melt. Ice off looks a week earlier than normal, maybe towards the end of the second week of April. Tunkwa being shallower we don’t experience turnover so once there is open water it’s time to fish!! Water came up a couple inches after measuring from the past week, seen a few scuds and waterboatman along the shoreline. Morgan and 6-mile have iced off the past day or two.
